STATION FLIGHT

Station Flight intertwines verbatim songwriting, sound design, performance and installation art to creatively retell stories of former employees of Shorts Brothers plc, serving and retired members of the RAF, members of East Belfast Wise Men’s Shed and the Ulster Aviation Society.

This project was generously funded by the Arts Council Northern Ireland Support for the Individual Artist Fund and The MAC, Belfast.

Smothered lovingly with Fagan-Thiébot’s smoky vocals and lush acoustics with lyrics lifted straight from the mouths of the plucky, fearless characters of the time. Station Flight is a thought-provoking vertiginous experience.

Station Flight Album

These songs creatively retell stories of former employees of Shorts Brother plc, serving and retired members of the RAF, members of East Belfast Wise Men’s Shed and the Ulster Aviation Society. The lyrics for each song are edited together from a series of interviews with participants. The lyrics of Miss Bland of Carnmoney are based on excerpts from her letters to Flight Magazine and an article in the Belfast Evening Telegraph, in 1910.
